Men's V neck tops

Ok, so we've all seen them, you can buy men's v neck sweaters in all high street retailers, and they come in all sizes, colours and materials imaginable. But, should men wear tops with a plunging v neck line, or should these be reserved strictly for women who want to show off as much cleavage as possible to entice men?


I'm of the general opinion that toned, young men can pull of shallow v necks, especially if they have little to no chest hair (women nowadays it seems have a slight aversion to visible chest hair). However, if you're overweight, i might suggest that the popular crew neck would be slightly more flattering. I also have an aversion to seeing men, regardless of shape/size wearing plunging v necks (as shown). I just don't think anyone can pull off this look, even women would be arrested for indecent exposure.

So, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, what is your verdict on these types of tops and t-shirts? Are they a fashion staple, or a fashion flop?
