This will be one of my more opinionated posts, I like to think. The visit to the zoo on saturday inspired it, and I guess the animalistic behaviour of people rioting in London just added to my urge to post about it. Luckily my part of London has been relatively unscathed so far, apart from a looting of a tesco down the road and a few smashed office windows. There is obviously no political motive involved, because what possible point could prove by destroying people's homes, small businesses and streets. My heart goes out to all those affected by the riots.
Anyway, my rant over the London riots is done. I don't want to wind myself up too much about it and it wouldn't make for very pleasant reading if I did. Which brings me to another point before I forget. I've gotten into reading again and I have a few books to review, so as soon as I finish reading them I will hopefully review some on here.
But for the main point of this post - animal print. What do you think of it? I used to love it when I was younger, and now I'm not as sure. I do love some tasteful pieces, and the odd leopard print shoes and jewellery, but too much and it can look seriously overdone. What do you think?
I love this outfit and the leopard print coat:

Yet I am not so keen on this:

Hard to say. I fell in love with animal print for several months, but now I'm shying away from it. I think it depends on your mood and what you pair it with.
ReplyDeleteI think the woman in the second picture looks wild because she already has a wild animal look to her in her expression and make-up, so the animal print only accentuates that point further. There's no balance.

Quite like the dress. Hope the part of London you're in is still ok.
ReplyDeletei love this coat
ReplyDeleteLOVE animal print, but you have to be careful! I think its all based on how you accessorize it, what kind of shoes you wear etc
ReplyDeletefor example i have a tunic style leopard dress that i will be wearing with black tights and brogue style heels.. possibly a leather jacket weather pending! you have to tone down the garishness of it all!

Love that coat! xo
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what it must be like in the UK at the moment - I fully agree that what can they expect to achieve by robbing people on the streets and setting fire to cars and homes!? I keep seeing statuses on FB about things at home and it all seems to be getting increasingly hyped up :( bad times.
ReplyDeleteBUT back to animal print. I love love animal print but there is a VERY thin line in getting it wrong and looking like a hooker!! ;)

I'm a sucker for animal print, always and forever, but like anything it's got to be a great piece of clothing anyway- made even better by a grrr print!
ReplyDeleteStay safe, hate what's happening to our country, the idiots No trouble in Cardiff at all. Everyone knows each other here and no real gang culture so hopefully we'll be ok.

Glad to hear your home is safe! What a terrifying happening. On a lighter note, I am always down for a loud animal print.

I was out at the mall during tax-free weekend and there was an older (mid-fifties) woman wearing a long-sleeved leopard print maxi dress. It was bizarre.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your comment about the leopard prints, I think less is more in this case. Sorry to hear about the riots. Hopefully things quiet down.

I'm okay with leopard and such when they're used as accents, but not when a person decks themself out in it to make them look like the animal.
