Ah I'm sorry for it being a while again until I posted. I made a vow (to myself) to not take long breaks in blogging, but at least my break wasn't as long as last time. I do have a genuine excuse for my absence though, it is pretty unbelievable but I was ill again. This winter hasn't been very kind to me at all. Firstly I got tonsilitis, then on wednesday I felt fine during the day and then during the evening I was struck down by some awful stomach bug. I am feeling better now though, so hopefully I wont get ill again this winter.
It felt like ages since I went to central London. With regards to shopping, I know a lot of visitors would like to visit places like Oxford Street, and maybe a lot of Londoners do as well, but it's generally a place I avoid at all costs especially over the christmas period. Also with being ill and everything, I've not really wanted to venture too far from home. On wednesday (before I got ill), I went to the Da Vinci exhibition in The National Gallery. I'm not the biggest appreciator of art. I know some people can spend hours looking at the same painting, appreciating it and dissecting its meaning, for me it's a minute glance before I move on to the next. That being said, the Da Vinci exhibition was really interesting, and there were some great paintings, so if you're in London I'd recommend it.
I took a few pictures of Trafalgar Square when I was in central London on wednesday. It has to be one of my most visited places, simply because it is so close to many of my favourite places.
Where is your favourite place to go to in your city?

I love art but like you I don't tend to spend ages in front of every painting (sometimes I do when it's something extraordinary) I also always get super tired legs!! Poor you for getting ill again, I really hope that means you won't be ill this year! xxx
ReplyDeleteAh that Shrek man made me smile!! I am a fan of art but like you I just like to appreciate it and then leave. (although saying that, I have seen a gorgeous Jack Vettriano painting that I NEED in my life!)
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. xx
Sorry to hear you've been unwell and hope you're feeling better. I love that boat in a bottle! They've always fascinated me. For a couple of years my parents told me they were made by magic and I think I believed them.
ReplyDeleteI love to visit the Geffrye Museum near Old Street. Sitting in the reading room there looking out over their gardens is a nice way to spend an afternoon.

I'm such a massive tourist in London, I always end up in Trafalgar Square as well! I love to go anywhere and everywhere! I'm sorry to hear about how ill you've been, I hope you dont get sick again! xxxx
ReplyDeletei love the shrek!!! so cute post!!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to check out my blog post too
xoxo
I love London!, When I go I have to go see a show! Its like an addiction!! xxx
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to go in my town is the antique store a couple streets away. If I had the time, I'd probably spend quite awhile just looking at all the old stuff. I don't know why I find such a fascination with old things, but I do.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous though, I'd love to travel to London and see the sights.
Also, I love art, but won't spend hours looking at one piece. A minute or two is plenty for me.
Hope you feel 100% again and that you stay that way the rest of the winter!
I've been to Londen last year and this year we're going again with school ^^
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice ^^
xxx, Mri
Love the casual Shrek..
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you've been ill again, winter really isn't treating you well!
Since I live out in the countryside in the south west of England, my favourite places are kind of limited.. I love going to London, to Camden market or Selfridges (my heaven), and closer to home I adore Bath & Bristol. Glastonbury is pretty good too...

I love London! I love brick lane and all the lovely vintage shops xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the first picture :)
ReplyDeleteWell I have been living near London now for just over a year and only been once!! I have told my bf for my birthday in Feb we are going for a huge day out there. My fave place in my home town Chester is either the racecorse or Hickorys (a steak house) which sits right on the River Dee, great on a sunny day for a few drinks :)

ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you are feeling better! I am so sorry that the winter has been so mean to your health! I am glad you are back! I hate having to go anywhere that involves shopping during Christmas time because of the crowds! It is ridiculous! I love all little parts of my city, but they tend to be the artsy, indie type places! =)
ReplyDeletethe da vinci exhibit is coming to the ontario science centre near me. cannot wait to play hooky one afternoon and immerse myself in it!

London is a great city, there are so many places you can go, despite the weather. Unfortunately in my city there is no places to go especially on winter time, except cinema and malls, so i hate winter!

I loved London when I visited, such a beautiful city. There's a state park near Miami on Key Biscayne, and its absolutely beautiful. It has a cute lighthouse and the beach is really peaceful.

I am the same way with pretty much all art. There have ever been only a couple pieces of work that I get stuck looking at for long periods of time, but I generally just glance and go onto the next as well.
ReplyDeleteLets see...there's nowhere to really go in the city I live in, but New York City is so close by that I LOVE going there and walking around. There's so much to do and something new that always catches my eye.
Oh, I'm sorry you were sick again. I get sick pretty often too. I hate it. So I hope you feel better for good this time! ♥
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you've been sick girl. That sucks! I love exhibits like that. Wish we had more of that in the states. London is so cultural!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.averysweetblog.com/
Lovely post. I visited Oxford street when I was in London and loved how alive it was...made for a lot of people watching. I like busy streets, I feel less shy and just blend in.
ReplyDelete'Firstly I got tonsilitis, then on wednesday I felt fine during the day and then during the evening I was struck down by some awful stomach bug. I am feeling better now though, so hopefully I wont get ill again this winter. '
ReplyDeletePlease get well.
'Where is your favourite place to go to in your city?'
Vancouver?
Stanley Park on a warm and sunny day. Not VGH, to see Mom where she is recovering from hip replacement #5, I like seeing 'Mum' but the parking is a rip-off, I should go into the parking busine$$.;)
London? The museums, churches and related or to see Arsenal.
Beautiful post!! Thanks for the photos.
ReplyDeleteHope you're better! God, I love London :) Although Camden is more up my alley than Oxford street. My favourite place in my town (Helsinki for now) would have to be the harbor in the summer, because I love the old market vibes and I love being able to just jump on a local ferry and go anywhere :) Very liberating! At winter I love all the lovely little cafes (I spend WAY too much time in cafes).
ReplyDeleteAll the best!
Ninja
It sounds like you've had a rough month! Hope you're finally feeling better :) I love London, but haven't been for ages... My favourite place to visit in my own city, Vancouver, is Gastown. The architecture is older and prettier than anywhere else in the city, and they have the best restaurants, too :)
