Benefit Brow Zings review

Benefit Brow Zing

Benefit Brow Zing

Benefit Brow Zings brow shaping kit in medium.

I'm recently erm, growing out my fringe (well, I've actually just not had it cut for a while), and it means that my eyebrows have been prominent. However my eyebrows are naturally quite thin and sparse and I wanted to make them look more pronounced without looking too harsh. I've tried pencils before but they make my eyebrows look quite severe and unnatural, so I decided to try this brow shaping kit from Benefit.

It costs £22.50 and the powder weighs 2.65g and the wax weighs 1.7g. It comes with a little instruction leaflet, a mirror, and two small brushes, as well as some miniature tweezers. To be honest the brushes are a bit too small to use comfortably, as are the tweezers, but it is nice to have them included as it saves bringing along extra brushes if I were to go travelling. I use the wax first to tame any unruly brows (luckily I don't have many), and then use the powder to fill in my brows. I find powder easier to use compared to a pencil because I can control more easily how much I use and how I want them to look. Also I think it looks more natural.

I can see how people wouldn't like this product. It is a lot of money for what you get but to be honest I've not come across many similar products and I've been looking for quite a while now. I'm aware that Bobbi Brown has a similar brow kit but that's £35! This kit also comes in only three different colours (light, medium and dark) and the light and medium do seem to lean ever so slightly red, but I don't think it's that noticeable in application.

Overall this is one of Benefit's products I rate. Despite the price, I can see this lasting me a good while and I love how my eyebrows look defined yet still natural. Do you use any eyebrow shaping or definition products?

  2. Haha, aw man, my eyebrows are SO thick and dark already. My worries involve plucking and making sure I don't let it turn into caveman-bush brows!
But, you always do give good reviews :) This will certainly help others!
And I've been doing good, just kept busy with school. I'm hunting for a job, but its really difficult...hopefully by summer time I'll have one!
How about you? How have you been?

    1. I try a lot of benefit because it's in my local boots, I don't like all of what I've bought from there though. Thanks, it is my natural hair colour as I've not dyed it since october. It goes quite reddy in the sun! :) xx

  14. I've thought about buying this before, but at the moment I use an old (clean/unused) mascarra brush to neaten up my brows, then I fill in any gaps with the darkest shade of eyeshadow from Benefit's Big Beautiful Eyes kit, using the narrow brush. It works well for me : ) x

  16. Ohh i bought this about a year ago! My eyebrows are such funny creatures, if i darken them wrong it can ruin my entire day O_O heh! My face is so fair that without makeup you could probaby hold an egg up to my face and you couldn't spot the difference between the two, so eyebrow kits are pretty much my best friends!

When the benfit powder ran out though (i only used the powder not the gel one) i just bought a cheap dark brown eyeshadow and just continued to use the brushes (as they're the best i've found so far) it's definetly cheaper than buying a whole new set!

I hope growing the fringe out goes ok! O_O You look so cute without it! xxx

  20. I really like the look of this.. my eyebrows are currently in a bt of a state as I have a blunt straight fringe that usually hides them...I'm so lazy, haha! I'll have to see if they have one to suit blondes, hmm...

  28. Looks nice on you, and great review! :)
I've used pens sometimes to darken my brows, I just need to gently "float" over the hair so they wont look unnatural or too sharp. I also have this very cheap H&M -brow palette (maybe 4 euros) which has medium and really dark colour in same small box. Looks a lot like eye shadow duo but there's small broom -like thingy there. Since my brows are quite light I've used only the medium one, and sometimes that dark as eyeshadow so that wont be completely useless.

    Have a lovely day Sarah,

  29. I use a Rimmel Dark Brown eyebrow pencil which, if I'm honest, isn't great but does do the job alright... Seriously thinking about investing in a good powder (so much more natural!) but it's hard to know which is best. Thanks for the review! x

  30. I have a love affair with eyebrows. Mine are naturally thick, so they take a lot of care. I use Anastasia products, but I might need to try Benefit!

  35. I need to get this. I spied it the other day when I was at a Benefit counter, but I'm glad to have read your review because I purchased it. It sounds great. And I agree that a powder helps them look more natural. Every time I've tried pencils my brows end up looking way to harsh and heavy against my face. Great review!

  40. I've heard so many rave reviews on this product! so thanks for the review. I agree, it is a little overpriced for the powder and brushes which you can probably get for a fraction of the price from some cheapie brands. as for recommendations, NYX eyebrow powder has worked well for me! :)
