Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart - £7.99
I know that the Revlon Lip Butters have been reviewed a lot in the blogging world, but a few of you were interested in hearing my thoughts on them so I decided I would write a quick review. I picked one of my favourite shades, Sweet Tart to review. however I may review a few more in the future as the pigmentation and finish differs slightly between shades.
I know there was some difficulty obtaining these lip butters in the UK a few months ago. However, recently I've noticed most shades are in stock in my local Boots and Superdrug. The packaging is ok. I know a lot of people like it and I do like the idea of the casing matching each individual shade, but the plastic casing seems rather thin and as though it would break easily to me. The quilted sides also seem a bit dated to me, but that is my opinion.
Revlon Sweet Tart is a mid toned bright pink with a light glossy finish. Personally, Sweet Tart and Berry Smoothie are my favourite shades in the range. The lip butter has a distinct scent to it, I can't put my finger on it but it's a very sweet smell. Sweet Tart applies easily and I find it comfortable to wear. It doesn't make my lips feel dry, but I disagree with the claims that the lip butters are overly moisturising. Typically, this lipstick lasts about 2-3 hours on my lips. So not exactly great, but I don't think it's too bad for something that's basically a lipstick-lip balm hybrid.
Have you tried the Revlon Lip Butters?

i love this colour i just bought it myself :) love your blog xoxo
ReplyDeleteI wasnt overly impressed with these products. I have Berry Smoothie and Strawberry Shortcake. The Berry Smoothie one was a good colour and I did find myself having to reapply after a couple of hours. The Strawberry Shortcake just felt a bit sticky and the colour really didnt look right I'm me. I looked like a doll. I think the products are ok, but nothing that a cheaper lip balm couldnt do.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog

I have Berry Smoothie too, and it's one of my favourites. I'm sorry about your experiences with Strawberry Shortcake though, it's one of my least worn shades because I'm not so fond of the colour xo
DeleteI still haven't tried them. There was so much hype around them that I wanted it to cool down before I got my hand on some - I'm typically always disappointed by products that are raved about. I like the idea of them though and will hopefully pick up a couple of colours soon xx

I really dont like the packaging - its so dated! Its put me off them completely. Talk about judging a book by its cover ;)

hmmmmm interesting! all i want is bulletproof long lasting lipstick that doesn't dry out my lips.
ReplyDeleteI bought one from Illamasqua that I will be reviewing soon. I found it long lasting without drying out my lips. xx
DeleteIt looks like a nice shade, but like you I don't think the packaging is really all that.. I might try it, though I'm a fan of Lush's ones. xx
ReplyDeleteI love the color, I bought a Revlon lipstick years ago

I have sweet-tart and love the colour! I use it all the time, it's part of my daily "look" now cause I love the look + feel so much! I agree that the packaging is mediocre but I still love Revlon's lip butters!

awesome color!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried it because Revlon products aren't practically being sold in Estonia. but I love reading your reviews because they're easy to understand (I'm no beauty products' guru :P) and I would SO love to find a decent lipstick that really lasts!

I have tried a few of these (we only have 8 colours available in Malaysia) and I quite like them. My favourite out of the ones I got are Peach Parfait and Strawberry Shortcake but the ones that I REALLY want to try are Tutti Frutti and Sweet Tart. I think the formula is decent, these are definitely not drying but to be honest I don't think they moisturizes my lips much at all.
